Hansen Woods - Shelter 2 will be the start of something special for years to come.
This event is sponsored by Dick Pond Athletics and proceeds will go to CAMBR.

The Down & Dirty Details:
- The Summer Trail Classic is an all-new trail race on the wide mowed grass and dirt pathways over the rolling terrain of the Carl R Hansen Woods.
- When registering as an Individual Runner, you can choose from one of four different distances – 4 miles (one loop of the perimeter trail), 6.8 miles (two loops), 9.5 miles (three loops) or 12 miles (four loops). However, if on race day you’re feeling good or just not feeling it at all, you can move up to a longer distance or drop down to a shorter distance and receive an official time and place for the new distance.
- If you prefer to team up with a friend or family member, you can register for the 2-person relay competition. The team will do four loops of the preserve’s perimeter trail, but how you and your teammate split up the loops is entirely up to you! The only requirement with the relay is that if Runner A starts the race, then Runner B must be the one to finish the race. Some possible combinations are Runner A-A-A-B, A-A-B-B, A-B-A-B or A-B-B-B.
- All Individual Runner and Relay participants will receive a custom-printed t-shirt for entry and a sweet insulated hydration bottle for finishing.
- If you are participating in the Dick Pond Athletics Triple Trail Challenge, you must register and finish either the 9.5-mile or 12-mile distance. (Be sure to use the same name when registering as what you used for the Hickory Knolls race in May.)
- Because of the awesome Finisher’s Award, there will NO Age Group awards at this event. We will post results for each race using age groups so that you know how you finished within your race/division/age group, but there are no age group awards.
- For those participating as an Individual Runner in the 6.8m, 9.5m or 12m, you can take advantage of the Crew Area near Shelter #1 to change shoes, drop a jacket or shirt, or just take a break. Water will be available in the Crew Area.
- This is a trail run. You can expect uneven ground, partially exposed rocks or roots, and other conditions characteristic of a natural area. While the pathways are generally beginner-friendly (and quite quick for more experienced trail runners), you are participating at your own risk of stumbling or tripping.
- You can visit the site any day before the race to familiarize yourself with the course and terrain.
