Riverside Foundation
What is the Riverside Foundation? Did you know that the Riverside Foundation is a charity based in Lincolnshire and one of the few in our area supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities? For over 46 years, the Riverside Foundation has provided housing, social support and work opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They are devoted to enriching lives of the individuals they serve and they give a home to those who need it the most! Why is it so important? For the individuals, Riverside Foundation is not just their home. It is a place where the individuals grow, flourish and learn to be an active participate in their community. The staff are not just employees of Riverside Foundation and volunteers are not just people who give of their time, they both become family to the individuals. Riverside Foundation fulfills an important function given the shortage of housing for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, particularly in Illinois, as it has reached crisis proportions. Many people with disabilities are still routinely denied their rights in housing, government programs and in other important ways. Why we need your help: Riverside Foundation is funded by a state that is ranked 47 out of 50 in supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The money provided by the state does not cover the total expenses of Riverside. As a result, we must rely on fundraising to cover the ever growing gap. Riverside Foundation does not and will not charge the individuals that call Riverside a home. Riverside Foundation faces many challenges, but through financial support received from a generous community we are able to thrive as an agency and provide a pleasant home, a caring environment and quality services. This is where we need your help.
