To be guaranteed your race T-shirt by race day, registration must have been completed by June 1st. If you register after this date, your shirt may not be received until after the race. If so, you will receive an email notification with a date and time to pick up your shirt.
About Save-A-Pet:
Save-A-Pet is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and one of the largest no-kill cat and dog rescues and adoption center in Lake County, IL. We provide a safe haven for abused, neglected, injured, lost, or animals that have been saved from euthanasia. We never put a limit on the amount of care we provide for an animal and we never give up on them. Save-A-Pet offers rescued dogs and cats the greatest opportunity for a second chance. For more than 50 years we have taken great pride in practicing our no-kill mission which has led to the successful adoption of more than 65,000 dogs and cats.
The Save-A-Pet Furry Friends 5K & 6-Legged Walk will take place rain or shine! However, in the case of severe weather, the live event will be cancelled for safety reasons. If the decision is made to cancel, an update will be posted on the Save-A-Pet Website, Save-A-Pet Facebook Page, as well as the 2023 Furry Friends 5K Race Event Page and 2023 Furry Friends 5K Facebook Event page. You will also have the option to be partially refunded to match the virtual and live walk registration fee, or donate the refund amount to Save-A-Pet and our animals. If you registered for the either the virtual or live walk, no refund will be provided.

Event Info
5K Timed Run
Participants will receive a backpack with race materials, race t-shirt, a participation medal.
The first place overall finishers (male and female) will receive trophies.
The top three finishers for males and females within each age group will receive trophies.
6-Legged Fun Run/Walk
Bring your four-legged friend for exercise and socialization while supporting Save-A-Pet.
All 6-Legged Fun Run/Walk human participants will receive a backpack and a race t-shirt.
Pre Race Day Packet Pick Up Will take place on Friday, June 23 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm at:

How to Virtually Participate in our Event!
Below are details on running our virtual race!
- Run on June 24, 2023.
- Choose your own course
- Most importantly….have fun and enjoy the time outside!
All participants will receive a great race shirt and participation medal!
Follow these easy steps to prepare for your tracking:
 TRACKING STEPS 1. Download the ASICS Runkeeper™ app to your phone and create an account or scroll down to log into an existing account Once you have completed your distance in the app, save your workout and it will automatically post to Race Roster results. (This step must be followed from your mobile device) |
 VIEWING AND POSTING MANUAL RESULTS If you plan to record using another software or tracking device or post manually from what is recorded on your watch, simply head here and "Submit Virtual Result" on June 24, 2023. |
FAQS:
- To record with tracking on the ASICS Runkeeper™ app, you will need to run or walk with your phone or with a connected wearable (see instructions below)
- You do not have to track with these technologies, it is optional!
