2023 HICKORY KNOLLS
TRAIL RUN & RELAY
We are returning to the trails of the Hickory Knolls Nature Area in St Charles for the 3rd annual HICKORY KNOLLS Trail Run & Parent & Child Relay on Sunday, May 14th.
Come out and run the grass and dirt trails over an approximate 3-mile loop course through a beautiful and diverse natural area just as spring begins to blossom. The first portion of the loop is relatively flat, while a couple of hills await in the latter portion of the loop. The trail is primarily wide-track, allowing for easy passing or running alongside a friend, and the route is very well marked.
You can participate in either the Individual Runner 5k (one loop) or 10k (two loops) distance, or pair up with a family member in the Parent+Child 2-person relay.
This event is sponsored by Dick Pond Athletics, Brooks Running and Pollyanna Brewing; proceeds from this event benefit the St Charles Park Foundation.

New for 2023! Parent & Child Relay!!
Race day is Mother's Day! And Father's Day is only five weeks later! In recognition of all the amazing moms and dads out there, we introduce the all new Parent & Child Relay.
- A "team" will consist of one parent and one child. Team categories are Mom/Daughter, Mom/Son, Dad/Daughter, and Dad/Son.
- Unlike a traditional Relay where one runner "hands off" to the second runner, Parent & child will run at the same time.
- If Mom or Dad wants to have two or more children run with them, the additional child(ren) must be registered to run, the team must declare which category they are competing in before the race begins to be eligible for an award. For example, if Mom has both a daughter and a son running with her, and the team has declared they are competing in Mom/Daughter category, the son's time will not count in determining the team's time if he finishes ahead of his sister.
- Two teams from one family are permitted, meaning Mom can pair up with one child while Dad can pair up with another child.
- Be sure to give your team a creative name and wear it proudly on race day.
- The finish time for the parent and the child will be combined to determine the team's official time.
