Fundraising
In addition to supporting ALCA with your registration, please consider making a personal donation. You will have the opportunity to do this during the registration process. Even if you do not wish to register for the 5K you can still donate to ALCA!
You can also become a fundraiser!
Create and customize your fundraising page with personal goals and a progress meter! With our page you get a link which you can send out to your family, friends and coworkers. You can promote your page on social media as well.
Consider becoming a team captain and forming a fundraising team! Teams may include churches, work colleagues, clubs or just a group of friends! For a company this is a great teambuilding event!
Setting up your page is easy! Below are detailed instructions on "how to" set up your own customized fundraising page once you have registered:
1) To get to your fundraising page, click on the "menu" button and select "dashboard".
2) Scroll to bottom of page to find your pledge page information. Select "edit page" to view and edit your pledge page.
3) SET A GOAL! Make it a "stretch" goal but not so high that people won't think you'll hit it. You can always change your goal later!
4) ADD A PHOTO. This will make your page more personal.
5) TELL YOUR STORY. Write a personal message that talks about why you are involved or use the sample message that is already on your page. See the Fundraising Tips page for additional messaging ideas.
6) SHARE YOUR STORY. Post a link on Social Media, email to your friends and family.
Alexander Leigh Center For Autism
Our History
ALCA was founded in 2004 by Dorie Hoevel and Kelly Weaver at a kitchen table over Chinese food. Best friends and both mothers of a child diagnosed with autism, they agreed their children needed more individualized support than what was available. With no formal background in the field of education and fueled by passion and perseverance, these two dedicated mothers set out to establish a school specifically designed to meet the needs of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Together, they created a place where children with autism can reach their full individual potential in a caring and safe environment.
Our Mission
Our school works each day to meet the individualized needs of each of our students. We help them develop life skills and vocational opportunities with a goal of successful adult life experiences. We grow along with our students and plan for their future and ours. Our vision is to create strong community relationships and partnerships that provide job training and help to secure employment for our students. As our students become older, we will help to secure residential assistance and/or on-site housing. Sustainable business endeavors keep our school and adult programs thriving in perpetuity.
