The 7th Annual Tune Up Triathlon is a great way to "tune up" for your racing season. This fun and local race is a perfect first race for beginner Triathletes who are not used to open water swimming. The pool swim offers a great opportunity to try out the sport of Triathlon in a non-intimidating environment. For the seasoned Triathlete, this local race is a perfect start to your 2014 race season!
All Tune Up Triathlon participants will receive a race shirt, virtual goody bag, post race party, giveaways, and more!
The Mini Tune Up Kids Triathlon is a perfect race for kiddos looking for a way to "TRI" the sport as well. The kids race will follow the post race party of the Tune Up Triathlon and will offer kids a safe and fun environment to race. All Mini Tune Up Kids Triathlon participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher prize.

Tune Up Triathlon Course Description
SWIM
500 yard indoor pool swim (20 lengths of the pool). Once finished triathletes will continue to the transition area through the double doors the lead to the outdoor pool area and then into the parking lot. No flotation devices are allowed. This is a "in water" start.
BIKE
Approx. 13 mile bike course (two 6.5 mile loops) through the streets of Highlands Ranch. There will be police officers at major intersections to direct traffic. This is an open to traffic bike course so please use caution on the roads. Helmets are mandatory. NO HELMET = NO RACE. The bike route will end back in the transition area. iPods are prohibited for the safety of all participants. COURSE MAP
RUN
Triathletes will exit the transition area from the opposite side of the bike entrance/exit to continue through the final leg of the race for a 5K run (3.1 miles) along open space sidewalk trails behind Westridge, past Marcy Park and Rover's Run at Redstone Park. COURSE MAP
Mini Tune Up Kids Triathlon Course Description
4-6 years
25 yard swim (1 length), .82 mile bike, .2 mile run
(will be allowed to use training wheels)
7-9 years
50 yard swim (2 lengths), 1.88 mile bike, .4 mile run
10-12 years
75 yard swim (3 lengths), 1.88 mile bike, .6 mile run
SWIM
Any style of swim is acceptable. Children can take a break during their swim if necessary. There will be lifeguards on duty and in the pool for assistance if required. Flotation devices are not allowed.
BIKE
The 4-6 year olds will complete 1 loop around Marcy Gulch Park behind Westridge. The 7-9 year olds and the 10-12 year olds will continue past Marcy Gulch park to a turnaround point that will be clearly marked. Children will be riding on the same trail coming in and out of the transition area and out on the trail. Please inform your child to ride on the right. We will have volunteers on the course to keep it safe. COURSE MAP
RUN
The 4-6 year olds will exit the transition area and will run to the south side walk along Highlands Ranch Parkway. They will complete one full loop and proceed to the finish line. The 7-9 year olds will complete 2 loops and the 10-12 year olds will complete 3 loops. This course will be clearly marked and volunteers will be monitoring the course for safety. COURSE MAP

Only one parent per child will be allowed in the transition area.

Race will start and finish at Westridge Recreation Center located at 9650 Foothills Canyon Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129.

Parking will be available in the neighborhoods surrounding the Recreation Center. Please allow extra time for parking.

Important information: Please bring photo ID in order to pick up your packet. Parents must present photo ID if minor is racing in Tune Up Triathlon.
Timing chips will be handed out in the pool area on race morning.
If you've missed online registration, registration for the race will be available for the Tune Up Triathlon for $90 or the Mini Tune Up Kids Triathlon for $60 at packet pickup. Cash or credit card will be accepted.
Race Day Packet Pickup
You will be able to pick up your packet beginning at 5:00 a.m. on race morning. Time chips will be handed out in the pool area before your swim wave.
Race Day Registration
No race day registration is available for the Tune Up Triathlon. You may register your child for the Mini Tune Up Kids Triathlon the day of the race for $60 if spots remain. We accept cash or credit card only. Registration will be available from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. Shirt quantities are limited so please register in advance to guarantee receiving a shirt.
Goody bags are virtual this year! Please check out all the great deals our sponsors are offering participants. Goody bags will be sent via email to all participants prior to the race.
