The Visitor Industry Charity Walk (VICW) celebrates tourism’s commitment to community with a fun event that raises money for local nonprofits. Travel businesses of all sizes support local communities and charities with financial contributions, auction items, door prizes, volunteers and more. The Anchorage VICW begins and ends downtown at the Dena'ina Center.
It’s a "graze to raise"
GRAZE:
Walk along the 5k downtown route nibbling tasty treats donated by local restaurants and businesses, then join the WOW event for more food, games, door prize drawings, music, dancing, a beer garden and fun.

How are funds used?
If you are on a team, here is how the funds are used:
$10 from each child registration and $15 from each adult registration is used to cover the cost of the walk. The remainder goes to the charity (registered 501c3) selected from the left side of the page (which must be indicated in parentheses in your team name)...IE Tourism Trekkers (for Visit Anchorage Helping Anchorage)
If the charity (registered 501c3) of your choice is not listed on the left side of the page, please contact the coordinator at the bottom of this page.
If your team does not select a charity, the funds will go to cover the cost of this year's walk and serve as seed money for next year's walk.
All funds will be calculated and dispersed after the event. Teams have until the end of the 2017 calendar year to collect/provide charity documentation.
All online fundraising is given to the charity selected.
If you are not on a team:
registration fees help cover the costs of this year's charity walk as well as serve as seed money for start up costs for next year's event.
Processing fees:
REGISTRATIONS: processing fees are based per transaction. Each registration incurs a 6.5% fee plus $1.25 processing (which is collected by the website host RaceRoster)
DONATIONS: thanks to our generous sponsors and individual walkers, charities receive the full amount donated (ie the final checks they receive will not be less the processing fee)....thank you sponsors and individual walkers!
