CNB Oak Forest Fleadh 5K

Welcome to the 9th Annual CNB Oak Forest Fleadh 5K, which kicks off a day of events celebrating Irish culture and heritage. This rolling course takes you through the heart of the celebrations as you race up and down Cicero Avenue and through the city's 3rd Ward. The course starts and finishes at 159th and Cicero Avenue. Your friends and family can cheer you on at one of several viewing stations along Cicero Avenue. We also hope you will stay for the parade on Cicero Avenue at 11 a.m. All Fleadh 5K participants will receive a short-sleeve race t-shirt and goody bag. The Fleadh 5K is certified by the USATF.

General Information
Strollers and walkers permitted at the back of the pack. No dogs, roller blades, bicycles, or skateboards allowed.
Race Timing
The Fleadh 5K uses a disposable chip timing tag that runners receive at packet pick up on their race bibs. It is lightweight and remains attached to the race bib. Runners must wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing (preferably chest) in order to be timed accurately. There is no post race chip turn-in or fee for lost or unreturned chips.

Packet Pick-Up
CNB Bank & Trust, 5459 W. 159th Street, Thursday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can register for the race at the bank until 5 p.m. on Friday.

Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-Up
Arbor Commuter Lot at the southwest corner of 159th Street and Oak Avenue (across from Metra train station area) from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Access to the lot is on Oak Avenue. Participants can park for free and register in this lot. The registration fee on race day is $35.

Awards
Plaques will be given to the top three overall finishers. Medals will be given to the top three winners, male and female, in each category. The award ceremony will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Manteno Veterans Home Donations
At this year's event, we proudly recognize the Oak Forest Veterans Commission (2018 family parade grand marshal) and all veterans who have served or are serving in the armed forces. With your help, we would like to donate personal care items to veterans at the Manteno Veterans Home, which provides care for up to 294 skilled care and special needs veterans. Requested items must be new and include: electric razors, roll-on deodorant, body wash/spray, denture cream/tablets, combs/hairbrushes, mouthwash, aftershave, railroad or diabetic socks, men's t-shirts (M, XXL, XXXL), sweatpants (M-XXXL), sunglasses, batteries, postage stamps, small flash lights, individually packed snacks (no nuts), coffee, and lemonade mix. We appreciate your support and generosity to benefit our nation's veterans.

Following the race, please enjoy refreshments and massages and stretching. Also, please stay for the Fleadh Family parade at 11 a.m., which runs North on Cicero from 157th to 151st Street. Enjoy all our pubs and restaurants throughout the day.

The Fleadh 5K has been designated as a CARA CERTIFIED RACE. As such, the Fleadh 5K agrees to adhere to and uphold CARA’s Best Practices Guidelines. These guidelines embody the highest standards for quality, safety and comfort for participants in a road race. The Fleadh 5K also has been designated a CARA Green Race due to our agreement to adhere to a set number of Green Practices that have been approved by CARA. The successful completion of these practices, recognize the achievement of an eco-friendly race. Free parking will be available all day and night in the Arbor Commuter Lot at the southwest corner of 159th Street and Oak Avenue – across from the Metra train station. Although plenty of parking is available, we encourage participants to car pool or take the train, if possible. In addition, bike racks are available near the train station. Police officers will be directing traffic. There will be NO PARKING in the CVS/Metra train station lots due to construction and parade staging.

Join the Run to the Pub Training Program to help you get in shape while enjoying some great company! The group's goal is to train for the St. Patrick's Day races, including the Oak Forest Fleadh 5K on March 3. The running group will meet once a week for 5 weeks at 6:30 p.m. starting February 1. All participants receive a free beer post run and entry into our weekly raffle. All fitness abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate. Runs will be held rain, snow or shine!
