The Third Annual Laramie Blizzard Blast Costume Run is a fun running and walking event organized by the Laramie Blizzard Soccer Association to support youth soccer in the Laramie Area. The events will include a 5K run, a 5K walk and a 10K run.
Costumes are part of the festivities and are strongly encouraged by participants, spectators and volunteers.
Everyone is welcome to participate -runners and walkers, soccer youth, coaches and parents, students, and community members. Participants receive a technical race shirt and post-race party. There will also be overall and age-group awards and a silent auction with many awsome items.
The post-race party with refreshments, costume contest and live music by Angel Adams and the Suits begins immediately following the race. Alibi will be selling hot wood-fired pizza.

WHAT:
The Third Annual Laramie Blizzard Blast Costume Run is a fun running and walking event organized by the Laramie Blizzard Soccer Association to support youth soccer in the Laramie Area. The events will include a 5K run (3.1 miles), a 5K walk and a 10K run (6.2 miles) with option to participate in the zombie festivities and YES be chased by zombies. Costumes are part of the festivities and are strongly encouraged by runners, walkers, zombies, spectators and volunteers.
WHO:
Everyone is welcome to participate -runners and walkers, soccer youth, coaches, parents, students, and community members. Participants receive a race shirt and post-race party. There will also be awards and a door prizes and a Silent Auction. Last year’s event was a huge success with almost 150 runners and walkers. Our inaugural event in 2012 had 190 participants. Please help us make this year’s Event even bigger!
Sanctioning
The 2014 Blizzard Blast is sanctioned by USA Track and Field.
Packet Pick Up & Silent Auction
Runners. walkers and zombies may pick up their race shirts and race packets on the Friday before the race or on race day. Pre Race Packet pick up will be Friday Oct 24th from 4 PM to 6:30 PM at the Pitch, 725 Skyline Drive. Runners and walkers will also be able to register at that time. Zombies (or their parents) must attend a short meeting scheduled during packet pick up. Come view our Silent Auction Items with an assertment of great items donated by local businesses. Bidding opens Friday at 4 PM and closes at 11:30 PM on Race Day.
Event Course
The 5K and 10K courses both start and end at the soccer pitch. Both courses meander through local neighborhoods, and open prairie with several undisclosed Zombie Zones. The 10K course is modified from previous year but promises to be mostly flat and fast with a portion overlaping with the 5K. Both courses are mostly on paved roads but have several sections on dirt (non-paved) roads. A map of the 5K may be downloaded here. Check back for a map of the 10K.
Awards & Prizes
AWARDS & PRIZES:
There will be overall awards, age group awards for first place AND.... a special award for the Best Costume, Best Team Costume (must run together), Blizzard Team with the highest percentage of participants, Blizzard Coach with the fastest 5K and 10K time and local business with the most race participants. And yes, there will awards for participants who survive the Zombie apocalypse and several special contests for zombies.
