HEAT STYLE TRAIL RUNNING
2KM COURSE, GUARANTEED 3 ROUNDS, RUN WELL AND MOVE ON.
TrailCross is a short cross country run through the awesome trails of Canmore Nordic Centre. The race is divided into heats separated by male/female. Place in the top half of your first heat? You earn your place in the quarter, semi, and Championship Final heats as you continue to advance. If you don't place in the top half of your first two heats, you'll earn a spot in the consolation "Champions of Tomorrow" rounds and finale. Overall winners here will regain a spot in the Championship Final!
A "heat" style elimination competition, it's about your finishing position, not your time! When do you well, you move on.
At all times - you have FUN! YOU CAN DO THIS. It's only a 2km loop!
All participants are guaranteed at least 3 rounds of racing.

How it Works
Here is how the breakdown of the race will work. Please keep in mind that all of the racers per heat, and racers moving on are approximate, and will depend on the number of males and females who register. The final exact numbers will be posted before race day.
- Participants are split into male/female heats. All participants start together, beginner or advanced.
- Round 1 will consist of 10 heats of ~10 racers, with the top 5 moving on into the advanced division.
- Round 2 will consist of 5 heats from the racers who did not qualify in round 1. This is the last chance to move into the advanced division. Perhaps you tripped on a root and fell behind in heat 1, so this is how you can get back in. You have to earn your spot in the advanced division. The top 3 from these heats move back into the advanced division.
- Rounds 3-5 are now split, and we will alternate beginner heats and advanced, working our way towards a final heat for both divisions, and determining champions for each.
