Welcome to the 2016 TriNB AGM & Awards Evening, an opportunity to celebrate the triathlon season while enjoying a great plate of Fish & Chips or Vegetarian Stir Fry plus Homemade Dessert from the kichen of Steamers & the Water Street Dinner Theatre.
Check out our amazing draw prizes valued at over $2000.
At the banquet TriNB's top athletes both adult and junior/youth, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and officials will be recognized for their achievements. TriNB members are encouraged to submit a nomination form which is found on the TriNB website by clicking on this link - TriNB Nomination Form. The deadline to submit nominations is October 8th.
Scott Thomas will be our host for the evening guiding us seamlessly through all the awards with his unique humour from a triathletes perspective reflecting on the season just finished and looking forward to 2017.
A very special thanks to our major sponsor of the East Coast Tri Series - Subaru Canada and all the local dealers who support each of our events.
Our very special guest for the evening will be Karen Smyers
Karen Smyers has competed as a professional triathlete for 30 years. In her lengthy career, she has won seven National and four World Championship titles, including a dramatic come-from-behind victory in the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships in 1995. Her victory at the short-course ITU Triathlon World Championship just 5 weeks later still earns her the distinction of being the only woman ever to win triathlon’s two most prestigious races in the same year.
Subsequently, she endured the challenge of a severed hamstring muscle by broken glass, a time-out for the birth of her daughter, a knockdown by an eighteen-wheeler while cycling, and a battle with thyroid cancer, which prompted Sports Illustrated to name her “The Triathlete Most Likely to Be Eaten by a Shark” in Sydney. Instead, she came back to win her seventh Elite National Championship title in August of 2001, just a week shy of her 40th birthday. Karen was honored by her induction into USA Triathlon’s and the International Triathlon Union’s Halls of Fame in both of their inaugural years.
Currently, she shares her experience, optimism, and passion for racing as a coach, motivational speaker and co-director of the Lincoln Kids Triathlon. She is a 1983 graduate of Princeton University and lives in Lincoln, MA with daughter Jenna, son Casey, and husband and frequent training partner Michael King.
No refunds or deferrals after Tuesday 01 November.
