Ben was 8 months when he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy caused by a stroke. We were shocked.... who knew a kid, never mind in utero, could have a stroke? Congenital cataracts? The last 3 1/2 years have been an eye opening experience for our family and friends. Not just the diagnoses, but how a toddler can teach us, at 40-ish and older... so much. Ben struggles every day to do the things his peers do, but his optimism and positive spirit keep us all in check. He is determined and will find a way to keep up with Josh, his friends and he surprises and impresses us constantly. Ben has an awesome network of family, friends, therapists who are dedicated to help him become the best kid he can be. SickKids' Neurology program has been integral to understanding Ben's condition and his prognosis moving forward. For that, we are indebted and cannot emphasize enough the importance of supporting a program that provide such innovative clinical expertise. Mandy Mandy
