The Wolfville 8 Mile Road Race and a 5K Fun Run are being held again this year.
The classic 8 Miler, known locally as "Wolfville, Spirit of the Valley 8 Mile Road Race" is named in memory of the late Steve Moores. Prior to his passing in November 2013, Steve Moores was the race director of the Wolfville 8 Mile Road Race for more than a decade, the founder of the Valley Harvest Marathon, and longtime Run Nova Scotia board member. Steve was a fixture and an inspiration to many in the running, cycling and skiing communities as a leader and believer in an active lifestyle.
The 8 Mile Athletics Canada measured and certified course, is a challenging, hilly course that winds through the Town of Wolfville and the Gaspereau Valley with a finish at Acadia's Raymond Field Complex. There are two challenging hills the first is near the beginning of the course at ~91m elevation, followed by a long downhill, the second ~60m climb comes in the last third of course. Aid stations are strategically placed along the course (S, 1.9k, 4.2k, 7.1k, 10.1k & F) providing drinking water and encouragement for participants.
The course record, set in 2014 is held by Brent Addison of Halifax with a time of 43m 44.7s
(3:29/km avg)
The 5k Fun Run starts and finishes on Raymond Field Track and is flat and fast, so get ready for your own personal best! An aid station is located near the halfway point on the Acadia Campus, with music and enthusiastic volunteers to keep you motivated!
