The flagging crew Friday morning reported "conditions were awesome, it’s good underfoot, it’s picturesque it’s not overly cold, it’s got the wow and it's got the change from mud to snow." We can only hope for tomorrow. On-line registration is closed, but you can still register at the beach from 10am until 15 minutes before race start. $40 cash or cheque only!
A winter challenge on character trails. Often muddy, wet and slippery. Two distances to choose from, with a classic climb to the summit of Stewart Mountain on the long course.
For a small $5.00 admission fee, racers and volunteers are invited to the Six Mile Pub post-race to warm up and enjoy a pint of Driftwood beer, complimentary snacks and a chance at draw prizes.
Now confirmed for 2016 are half-hour earlier starts for the long course so we can all get to the after party sooner.

Some of the best, most memorable and fun Stewart Mountain races have been in the snow. Unless the roads are closed, the event will proceed. Scouting / flagging crews Friday and Saturday morning will assess and adjust the course if necessary.

Location
Thetis Lake Park, Victoria, BC. Start and finish near main beach.
Park in the main lot at the end of Six Mile Road, or cycle the Galloping Goose trail and park at the beach.
Distance
The classic long course is approximately 10 Miles (16 Kilometres) and the shorter course approximately 5.5 Miles (8.8 Kilometres). This cross country event is sanctioned by BC Athletics.
Start Times
The main start for the long course is now 11:30 a.m. An early start option of 11:00 a.m. is available for those expecting to take over 2 hours. If you are new to the race, we suggest using your road half marathon time as a guide.
The main start for the short course remains at 12:00 noon.
Course
Main and secondary trails of Thetis Lake Park featuring mud, rocks and water crossings over rolling terrain, with a significant climb to the top of Stewart Mountain for the 10-mile route only.
2014 saw tweaks of new single-track. 2015 saw more single-track and a reversal of some mid-course features. 2016 may see a few changes too. Race Day conditions may decide. 2014 Map pdf
Courses will be well-marked and marshalled but participants are responsible for watching for directional indicators at all times.

Please pre-register Online, or by mail with a paper entry form. Do it early by Sunday Nov. 1st for the best rates. Note: Online registration will close end of day Thursday, December 8, 2016. In-person registration during Package Pickup on Friday and Saturday is cash or cheque only. Limit of 600 entries.

A technical race shirt featuring the raven logo above will be presented to the first 150 who pick up their race package.
Amenities
Port-a-potties at the start/finish area (but no change rooms). Hot chocolate and coffee at the finish (save a disposable - bring your own cup or mug). More warm food, draw prizes and beer available at the after party (see below).
Awards
Overall and age-group awards will be available for pickup at the beach after the race, but full presentations will be made at the After Party (see below).
After Party
Racers and volunteers are invited to the Six Mile Pub to enjoy warmth, a FREE pint of local Driftwood beer, complimentary snacks and a chance at draw prizes.

Harriers Foundation
All race proceeds will be directed to Harriers Foundation projects. To date the Prairie Inn Harriers Running Club has raised over $ 316,000 towards Foundation projects in Greater Victoria including six major scholarships and bursaries at UVic and Camosun College:
