Norwood Resource Center is a community-based 501(c)3 organization founded in 2001 as a grassroots initiative to improve the quality of life in the Norwood Community of Birmngham. Our mission is to strengthen individuals and families through education, health and economic opportunities. The Norwood Resource Center is a member of the Alabama Network of Family Resource Centers, providing information about and referrals to local service agencies, assistance in accessing those services, informative workshops and valuable free programs.

 

Family Resource Center Services include case management, community/school supportive services and community education:

~Norwood Learning Gardens - 4 resident led community gardens

~Junior Master Gardener Program - youth gardening STEAM program including summer camp and 4-H Club

~Words are Our World - vocabulary building STEAM based program for pre-K children

~Job Readiness Program - a quarterly series of workshops connecting individuals to employment resources and opportunities

~Housing Counseling - assistance accessing guidance on homebuying, renting, reverse mortgages and default and foreclosure prevention.

~VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

~Norwood Market at The Trolley Stop - community outdoor market featuring fresh fruits & vegetables, crafts, cooking demos, music, fitness classes and more
