Compeer Buffalo & The Mental Health Association

Compeer's mission is to use the power of volunteer friends to improve the lives of children and adults who are striving for good mental health. Compeer, using an evidence-based model, recruits, screens and matches trained volunteers from the community to be a friend, or mentor in a one-to-one supportive relationship. Compeer is the ultimate friend matchmaker. They help match people who live with mental illness to someone how can be a positive support person in their lives. Compeer only asks for one hour a week from their volunteers, to help change the lives of others.

The Mental Health Association of Erie County seeks to meet the ever-changing mental health needs of people of all ages by providing education, public information, prevention programs, training, advocacy and supportive services that produce measurable results.
