Race Results
So thankful for a successful 9th Annual Grant A Starr Family Fun Run! We were so thankful for the over 440 runners/walkers who came out to participate!
Grant Starr was a young boy who passed away at seven years old in August 2005 from an unidentified viral infection. The Foundation gives 100% of its funds raised and collaborates with Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital to fund research projects which allow physicians to accurately diagnose and treat viral infections. Last year, in the Foundation's 10th year, we announced we had given over $1 million combined to the two hospitals! Truly great things can be done if we all work together!!! We had a moment of silence to remember Grant Starr, the Starr family, and the children that have passed, or are struggling through a viral illness now. We had a great team, and support from the community and our sponsors! At the post event ceremony, we gave $20K each to TCH and CMMH! #runlikeastarr (Photos by Michael Tollestrup will be posted later on Grant A Starr FB page).

The Grant-A-Starr Foundation
The Grant-A-Starr Foundation is a non-profit organization for the purpose of saving children’s lives through the advancement of rapid detection of life-threatening childhood infections such as encephalitis and meningitis. The teens have a passion to raise funds for the advancement of rapid diagnostic testing, which will help to reduce the time to identify a child’s illness from days or weeks to mere hours. The foundation was created as a result of the loss of a child, Grant Starr, at Commonwealth Elementary School in Sugar Land, Texas. The diagnostic tools were simply not adequate to identify Grant’s illness and save his life. Many of the student board were friends and classmates of Grant. Enjoy the Post Race Party! At the conclusion of the race local bands will provide entertainment, refreshments served by local establishments and games for the kids. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each event.
