The Methodist Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation embraces a crucial long-term role in the advancement of orthopedic medicineThe ATI Foundation is dedicated to assisting children with physical impairments. The goal of this special event is to raise funds for both organization's mission.

This 1K/5K event was created to celebrate those returning to an active lifestyle following joint replacements and orthopedic implants.  Participants that fit this mission participate at no cost as this is your day of triumph over pain. (but you do need to register below).  Family and friends are encouraged to regsiter and join you in your celebration.

5K Participant or Metal Walk Supporter Closed

Open to all who wish to participate in the 5K or support those Metal Walk Participants participating in the 1K

Metal Walk Participant Closed

Those with joint replacements or orthopedic implants! Choose to participate in the 1K or 5K course.

Event Pricing and Value

Joint Replacement/Orthopedic Implant participants participate for FREE and will receive an event shirt and a Metal Walk participant gift, participant surprise.

Kids 12 and under and will receive the participant surprise.  Youth event shirts can be purchased for a $20 doantion during the registration process or on site the day of the event.

All other Participants:  $20 registration donation.  Registration includes event shirt and participant surprise.  Registration doantion increases to $25 after September 23. 

Note:  Event shirts will be given out to the first 200 participants registered.  So register early and encourage others to do the same.  

Event day registrants are not gauranteed an event shirt, which is why we encourage all those interested to regsiter in advance.

Metal Walk & Fun Run

This event is solely a fun Walk/Run to raise money for the Methodist Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation and the ATI Foundation.    

The Metal Walk is designed as a unique event for those with joint replacements or other orthopedic implants and their supporting family and friends.  Come celebrate triumph over pain and a return to a physically active life.  There is a 1K course option for our joint replacement/orthopedic implant participants and their supporters, but all are participants are welcome to participate in the entire 5K course.

The event is open to all: competitive runners, leisurely joggers, walkers, families, etc.  The course at Eagle Creek park is paved and begins at the Beach Shelter area.  The walk/run will not be officially sanctioned or chip timed.  We will have a clock at the finish line for those that are interested in viewing their approximate time as they finish.  

Team Registration

We are encouraging participants to register as a Team and help raise additional funds by getting others to pledge their support.  Prizes will be awarded to the Team with the most participants and to the Team that raises the most money.

Two Options for Creating/Joining a Team:

1. Register yourself and all your team members within one transaction. As the first person registering you will CREATE A TEAM name. Then you will have the option to checkout or add an additional person, be sure to have each additional person JOIN your team.

2. The captain will register him or herself and create a team, then check out. They will notify their friends that they have created a team. Each teammate can then register and choose JOIN A TEAM, and select the team name from the dropdown menu.
