The Amazing Grande Prairie Sidewalk Race will host 100 participants to compete for finishers medals while encountering that "Grande Experience" within the downtown core and surrounding areas. Teams of runners and walkers will be challenged to locate multiple checkpoints throughout the city and complete varous challenges with speed and agility (and a sense of humor). Simple Race Rules: follow pedestrian traffic laws. Walk/run the shortest route to each checkpoint. Phones are allowed to solve clues and to follow maps. To start teams of 2 will receive their first clue. The clue will be very simple but will lead them to a business where they will be required to complete a challenge. Once the challenge is completed, they wll receive the next clue to continue the "Grande Experience". The challenges are engaging, innovative and will enable everyone regardless of fitness level or age to have a memorable experience.

The Race: The Amazing Sidewalk Race will challenge participants within our community while promoting the City of Grande Prairie. This year we will host 100 particpants who will compete for finishers medeals while encountering that "Grande Experience" withing the Downtown core and surrounding areas. Runners and walkers will be challanged to locate multiple checkpoints throughout the city and complete various challnges within business and facilities with speed and agility (and a sense of humor).
Simple Race Rules: Follow pedestrian traffic laws. Walk/run the shortest route to each checkpoint. Phones are allowed to solve clues and to follow maps. No motorized travel is permittied by the racers once the race has begun.
The Plan: the race starts at Walk, Run & More at 11625 99 Street, Grande Prairie at 11AM on Saturday, September 16th, 2017. Racers must check in and receive their race bibs at least 30 minutes before the start time. At the start time each team will be given their first clue. The clue will be simple but will lead you to a business or facility where you will be required to complete a challenge. Once the challenge is completed you will receive your next clue to continue the "Grande Experience".
The Amazing Sidewalk Race will cover 10-12 km of city sidewalks and include 6-8 checkpoints. The average leg is approximately 2km. the overall distance of the race and the short individual sections of the race will allow people of all fitness levels to participate.
The challenges are engaging, innovative and will enable everyone to have a memorable experience.
