Volunteer Information

Thank you for your willingness to volunteer at the Trick, Trot and Roll Event on Illinois Route 390.  This race would not be possible without your involvement.  There are a number of positions open that we will need help at.  Depending on your availability the morning of the event we can use your help in possibly more than one area.  To help you decide which position might be best for you, here is a brief description and approximate time for each:

5K Run/Walk


Fun Run Portion (Race starts at 9:30 AM – Finish at 11:00 AM)

  • Registration/Pre Race Packet Pick up:    6:45 AM – 11:30 AM (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 10-12)
    • Assist participants with event day registration as well as preregistered participants receiving their bibs.
  • T-Shirt Pick up:    8:15 AM – 11:30 AM (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 6)
    • Assist participants by handing out pre-selected t-shirts for preregistered participants as well as race day participants.
  • Gear Check:    8:15 AM– 11:30 AM (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 4)
    • Receive participant bags prior to the run and organize them at the gear check area. Post run provide back to participants their checked gear.  Area will be overseen by security.
  • Start/Finish Line Area Marshalls:  8:00 AM – 11:30 AM (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 4)
    • Organize runners at the start, insuring an organized and safe start.  Assist participants as they finish, directing them through the finish line to post race support including hydration, food, medical and the post-race celebration.
    • Provide participants with finish line medals.
  • Finish Hydration and Food: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 12)
    • Manage the preparation and distribution of food and hydration at the start/finish line area. This includes setting up tables of water/sports drink along with other items (fruit, bars, etc.)
  • Course Marshalls:  8:30 AM – 11:40 AM (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 6)
    • Direct participants through the race course. Volunteers will also communicate with event officials on the status of participant flow, report any on-course issues to officials and assist distressed participants by calling medical staff or SAG vehicles to site.  Volunteers should have a cell phone and will be provided with a call list. Volunteers with their own transportation (or way to access course) is preferred.
  • Aid/Water Station on Race Course: 8:30 – 11:30 (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 8-12)
    • Help manage aid/water station on race course. Volunteers will set-up tables for water and/or sports drink and cups, will fill cups and distribute as participants pass their station. Volunteers should be comfortable with potential set-up work to include carrying (in pairs) folding tables, coolers of water/sports drinks, working with water/sports drinks, passing out to participant, helping to keep the station area clean. Being vocal and encouraging to participants is a plus!
  • All Volunteers are asked to:
    • Have knowledge of the event, timeline, course and call list of event directors to help participants.
    • Alert event directors of any issues/problems.
    • Keep areas clean of trash as event is taking place.

  

Volunteer Line-up and Job Description

Roll Event

 

ROLL Portion (Starts at 11:30 AM – Finish at 1:00 PM)
