FLOW members are paddling with a purpose in 2017! Come out and paddle with other members of FLOW or pledge a paddler and you will be supporting a cleaner Olentangy River and a healthier Olentangy watershed. We'll have trash bags and pickers for picking up trash along the way.
You'll be paddling a stretch of the lower Olentangy River. For a map of the Olentangy watershed, go here - https://olentangy.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=fbb8a18834964b14920780ee23961356

Thank you for registering for the FLOWT Fundraiser for FLOW
Paddling is a healthy activity that people of all ages can do safely and with minimal effort and this is your opportunity to join FLOW on the Olentangy, and contribute to keeping the river healthy and clean. Proceeds from your registration will be donated to FLOW and you can ask friends and family to use the same link you used to register and pledge your paddle to make your contribution count even more.
You can arrive at 6:00. We'll have a brief intro to the river, some basic paddling and safety instructions and you'll be on your way! Depending on river levels, the total trip is scheduled to take between 1.5 - 2 hours.
Registration will reserve a kayak, paddle, and pfd (adult or child's can be selected during the registration process). Canoes are only available if the river conditions and depth allow. If you would like to opt for a canoe, please choose a kayak for now and we will let you know a few days before the event if canoes are available.
Please note: You are responsible for transportation back to your vehicle at the launch site. Walking along the Olentangy Trail, a multi-use trail that follows the river is one option, or you can leave a vehicle or your own bikes at the take-out and drive or bike back to the launch. Uber services are also an option. The mileage along the trail is approximately 3.5 miles.
Directions to the launch at Broad Meadows: (Closest address is 550 Broad Meadows Blvd. Columbus, OH 43214)
Take High St. either south from 161 or north from Morse Rd/Henderson to Broad Meadows Blvd. CVS is on the northwest corner. Turn west on Broad Meadows Blvd and drive about a mile to the river. Parking is just before you get to the circle at the end. You'll turn right into a parking lot just before the circle. There is construction in the parking lot area at this time but there are still plenty of parking spots in the area. Walk back to the circle, and follow the trail towards the pedestrian bridge.
Directions to the take-out at Northmoor Park: 3601 Olentangy Blvd. Columbus, OH 43214
Take North Broadway to Milton Ave. Head North on Milton. Turn left at the first stop sign on W Kenworth. Follow Kenworth to Olentangy as it curves to follow the river. Turn left at the intersection of Olentangy and Northmoor Place.
*Please note that this activity will only take place if river conditions are safe. If the water is any higher than your waist, we will either move or postpone the event. We will make every effort to inform you 48 hour prior to the event that there will be a change, but due to the unpredictability of the weather and river levels, this may not always be possible.
