We Need You!

We are very grateful for anyone willing to give some of their time to assist in helping to make Reach the Beach a successful event.  We encourage you to select up to 4 of your preferred volunteer stations and also let us know if you are available to help out on multiple days.  Prior experience volunteering at a road race is NOT essential, none of our stations need more than a few minutes of instruction in order for you to make a big difference to the event!

Volunteers who register by July 31st will be given 'race swag', but if anyone catches the volunteer bug late, please approach us as late as race day to see if we still need any extra assistance.

If you are unfamiliar with any of the volunteer stations, there is a brief summary below.  Once again, thank-you for donating your time!

Volunteer Station Summaries

Race Kit Assembly - Race kits will contain multiple samples, promotion material, ect.  Race Kit Assembly is taking one of each item and putting it in the kit bag.

Pre-Race Registration - We will have pre-race registation in London, as well as before the race on location in Port Stanley race day.  Volunteers at these stations will be handing out race kits and race numbers and checking the participant list whether the participant receives the race swag.

Pre-Race Set Up - On race day we will need to set up the participant registration station, volunteer registration station, refreshments table, awards table, course marking, ect.  These volunteers should be physically capable of carrying a folding table with the assistance of one other person.

Water Station - We have two water stations on the course, one at 1.25k away from the finish line and one at 2.5k away from the finish line.  These volunteers will fill cups with water and hold them out for runners as they pass.  They will also collect cups from the ground around the water station and a ride will return them to the finish line area.

Traffic Management - The race will have the assistance of the OPP for vehicle traffic management and all volunteers can bring their own or they will be provided with a high vizabilty vest.  Most of these volunteers will be directing runners at turns in the course and at turn around points, but some may also assist the OPP or manage pedestrian traffice on the finishing straight.

Post Race Refreshments - After completing the race, participants have the opportunity to have snacks and beverages at the refreshment table.  The volunteers may do tasks such as refilling drink coolers, refilling ice, opening packages of snacks or cutting food.

Post Race Cleanup - After the awards have been given out and the refreshments consumed, we appreciate some extra hands to take down the tents and tables, as well as drive through the course and make sure that we do not leave any litter in the community.  The Reach the Beach event is well supported by the Port Stanley community and we want to leave their neighborhood as clean as it was before the event.
