Volunteers

Volunteers are the core of the Tri For The Cure.  We could not do it without your support and assistance.  From helping in the transition area, to help along the swim, bike or run courses - we have a job that will suit you!  

All volunteers will receive:

  • Commemorative volunteer t-shirt
  • Free beer after your shift
  • Access to participant food
  • Plenty of water to stay hydrated

Packet Pick Up 8:30 am 3:00 pm Volunteers will assist in distributing race materials including race bib and timing chip to registered participants. All registrants are required to attend and pick up race materials. Volunteers who stay all day will be provided lunch.

Beer Tent8:15 am12:00 pm


Volunteers will pour beer for participants. Must be at least 21 years old. May involve moving kegs of beer. (FULL)

Bike Marshal 6:00 am11:00 am 

Volunteers will assist in directing participants on the bike course and notifying general park guests of the event.

Body Markers 5:30 am 9:00 am

Volunteers will assist in body marking the race numbers onto the arms and legs of the athletes for timing purposes. Requires standing for extended periods. (FULL)

Bike Start Line5:30 am11:00 am

Help monitor the fence line between spectators and beginning of the bike course. This will help ensure both participant and spectator safety. (FULL)

Finish Line7:30 am12:00 pm

This volunteer will congratulate participants by handing out water and medals to all participants as they cross the finish line, as well as assisting with the timing, scoring and collection of timing chips. 

Food and Beverage7:30 am 12:00 pm 

Volunteers will assist in setting up and distributing food and beverages to participants in the post race Expo. (FULL)

Lifeguard6:30 am10:00 am

This position will monitor the swim portion of the race in order to assist with any emergency water situations. Lifeguards will be assisting participants in and out of the water. Requires certified Lifeguard. Also receives a cash stipend of $50.

Massage7:00 am12:00 pm

Volunteers will provide short massages to race participants. This position is only available for licensed massage therapists or students with documentation of their program. 

Morning-of Registration4:45 am7:30 am

Volunteers will assist event morning registration, which includes distributing bib numbers, timing chips and swim caps to participants.  

Run Marshal7:00 am11:00 amVolunteers will assist in directing participants on the run course, as well as spectator traffic along the route.
Safety Boat/Kayaker6:30 am10:00 amKayaks assist with swimmer safety in the reservoir during the swim course. You may serve as a "rest point" for tired swimmers when necessary and as a spotter for any swimmers in need of assistance. Requires you transport and use your own kayak. Receives a cash stipend of $50. (FULL)
Start/Finish (Bike)6:30 am11:00 amVolunteers will direct/assist riders as they mount and dismount in the designated area. (FULL)
Swim Buddy6:30 am10:00 amAccompany athletes who may be uncomfortable or nervous during the swim portion of the event. The Buddy does not physically assist the swimmer, but instead swims alongside the swimmer to provide encouragement and comfort. Requires strong swimmer.
Swim Start/Assist 6:15 am10:30 amVolunteers will be needed to assist event staff within the swim start area in athlete support and flow, including but not limited to timing equipment replacement. The person may also act as a "spotter" at the swim finish.

Timing6:30 am12:00 pmVolunteers assist the timing company to ensure the proper timing and scoring of the individual race components and the overall race.
Transition Area4:30 am10:00 am

Volunteers will assist participants in the Transition Area - a rack space for participants to store their materials for each event (swim, bike, run). This position will ensure the area remains  clean, safe, secure, walkways clear and provide general assistance to participants. One of these activities will be assigned to volunteers upon check-in on event day. Please note that this is a female only position.

Volunteer Support5:30 am11:45 am

Volunteer supporters will relieve others and fill in as needed - exact assignments to be given on event day. Positions could include any of the various volunteer jobs available. This position requires flexibility and willingness to jump in where needed.

Water Stations6:45 pm11:00 amVolunteers will assist with setting up, operating, and breaking down water stations for water distribution to the athletes on the course. Please note, there are 3 separate water stations; your location will be determined upon check-in.
