It’s all about the trails.
Last year was the start of a new era in Squamish mountain bike racing with the end of the Test of Metal race series, and the introduction of the Sp’akw’us 50 technical XC marathon to the calendar of renowned races on Squamish’s spectacular trails.
The inaugural Sp’akw’us 50 sold out all 600 entries in it’s first year. Entries for 2018 go on sale January 15, 2018 at 6:00pm.
For 2018 we have taken the fun to a new level by announcing a 2-Day Stage Race called The Sp’akw’us Challenge. The Sp’akw’us Challenge will consist of the Sp’akw’us 50 (Saturday) and the Sp’akw’us 35 (Sunday). Both events can be ridden separately as a 1 Day Event, or combined for an even greater Challenge. The Spakwus 50 will be a similar course to last year, with the Spakwus 35 being held on different but equally enjoyable trails.
Because what’s more fun than 50km of Squamish singletrack? Even more kilometres of Squamish singletrack.
The expanded race offerings provide something for everyone. One day enough? Enjoy a race suited to your interest and ability level with the 50 km or 35 km options. Come for the one-day race, stay for the 2-day party. But for those of you who want more, test your grit in the 2-day Challenge.

Sp’akw’us means Bald Eagle in the Squamish Nation language, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and symbolizes the majestic beauty unique to Squamish. The rich history of mountain bike racing in Squamish will continue to be a foundation of the region, as are the bald eagles that grace our skies, trees and rivers.

Capital Projects
This year we have also announced our plan to build a bridge across Mashiter Creek, to connect the Alice Lake and Diamond Head trail networks. This will enhance the course options, benefit many user groups, and enrich the recreation opportunities available to those who choose to visit or live in Squamish, BC. We have undertaken a unique approach to funding and building this bridge as well as several new trail improvements and additional trail plans to be rolled out over the next few months.
