Maya Kim, a student of St. Pius X, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma cancer in March 2010 when she was 4 years old. In 2012 she was diagnosed with a secondary cancer MDS. The St. Pius x team was first put together in 2014 when Maya was undergoing her second bone marrow transplant at St. Jude hospital in Memphis. Her teacher, her classmates , parents and the school community put together the "St. Pius X - Team Maya Kim" to show support for Maya. While at the hospital, Maya was bedridden for 4 months, and could not walk. When she started physiotherapy Maya's will to walk , even if so 1 meter, was her hope to be able to walk again to attend camp Ooch that summer, and walk she did. Maya is 12 years old now and for the past 7 summers has attended to Camp Ooch. Since 2014, the team has raised over $30,000 in support of Camp Ooch. Please support us to send kids affected by pediatric cancer to Ooch, a camp where kids can forget about all the harsh treatments and be kids!
