The 10th Annual Grant-A-Starr Foundation Family 5K &1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is back again with our amazing teen board and volunteers to raise money for pediatric diagnostic testing and celebrate the life of Grant Starr. The event will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Sugar Land's new Brazos River Park. Our new location is just off the Brazos River Turnaround exit, immediatly before the Sugar Land water tower. The event will include both a 5K chip timed race on the USATF course and a 1-mile event. A post-race party and awards presentation will follow the race. There will be plenty of food, freebies, and fun for the whole family.
This will create your initial team, with a minimum of 4 runners and a maximum of 10. If additional runners want to join your team, have them select "join an existing team" and use your same team name.
Register here to join an existing team up to a maximum of 10 runners. You must know your team name and password, which can be obtained from the team leader who initially created the team.
We are so thankful for the over 440 runners/walkers who came out to participate in the 2017 9th Annual Grant A Starr Family Fun Run!
At last year's race, in a moment of silence, we remembered Grant Starr, his family, and the children who have passed, or are currently struggling with a viral illness. A great fun run team, enthusiastic runners and walkers, community support, and generous sponsors made it a very successful event! At the post event ceremony, we gave $20K each to Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital!

The Grant-A-Starr Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving children’s lives through the advancement of rapid detection of life-threatening childhood infections such as encephalitis and meningitis. Grant Starr was a seven year old boy who passed away from an unidentified viral infection in August 2005. The Foundation gives 100% of the money it raises and collaborates with Texas Children's Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital to fund research projects which allow physicians to accurately diagnose and treat viral infections. Proceeds from the Annual Family Fun Run have contributed to the $1.2 million that the Foundation has raised so far. Truly great things can be done if we all work together!!!
Everyone MUST be officially registered with a GASFFR race number visible on front.
Please make note of our new race location at Brazos River Park, just next to the Sugar Land water tower.
The Team Challenge is open to all companies, organizations or groups with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 10 participants on a team. A company, organization or group may have any number of teams. Results will be based on the average finish time clocked for all participants of a team. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be determined based on the lowest average team time.
The School Challenge is open to any school in the Sugar Land/Houston area. The winner of the challenge receives a travel trophy with the name of the school and the year that school won on the trophy. To win you must register the most participants (either 5k or 1 mile) through the School Challenge registration button.
