Raise money for Mankato YMCA - LiveSTRONG Program
Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The Y and LIVESTRONG have joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a research-based physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health.
LiveSTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their life and create their “new normal”.
Our program is provided free of charge to members and non-member alike. It provides the cancer survivor, a 3-month membership to have full access to the YMCA, so the entire family can participate and benefit from the health journey the LiveSTRONG participant is beginning.
