That Dam Hespeler River Race
The Dam Hespeler race loops up and down from the Jacob’s Landing side of the Hespeler Mill Pond upstream to the historic Black Bridge. The course features the natural and beautiful Speed River with twisting river sections with swifts, currents, shallows and buoy turns. There are no portages or whitewater sections. Various classes will paddle a single 5km loop or multiple loops to make up the 10km, 15km and 20km races making the race is suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers looking for distance and water current reading challenges. The purpose of the race is to promote water safety, the sport of flat water paddling and engage the community in the recreational use of the Hespeler Mill Pond and Speed River.
