According to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, Mississippi has seen 265 officers fall in the line of duty. Each has paid the ultimate sacrifice - a risk for which all law enforcement officers are fully aware of when taking the oath to "protect and serve." When an officer falls, every law enforcement officer (along with his or her family) mourn the loss. While we may not know every officer who falls - every spouse, parent, and child understands deeply what a loss like that can mean. It is for this reason that we are hosting the Inaugural Back the Blue Fest 5k.
