Dog Mile
All dogs are combined into one category: The Dog Mile. So if you want to race or walk your dog down State Street register for the Dog Mile.
Course Description and Award Information
First race begins at 8:00am. Fast gradual downhill mile through scenic downtown Santa Barbara. Total course descent is 100 feet.
FEATURING: Age group categories, Amputee Division, Family Fun Mile, Masters Elite Mile (bonus $ for record; must be entered in Masters Elite Mile to be eligible), Elite Mile (Prize money and course record bonus) and Dog Mile.
There will be eight age group races: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus. 70-plus may run with the 60-69 heat, but separate prizes will be awarded.
The Elite Mile is a competitive race with cash prizes to the top four men and women ($1000, $750, $500 and $250) with course record bonus of $1000 - must better 3:49 men and 4:22 women (first one to break).
Qualifying times for Elite Mile are 4:30 for men and 5:30 for women.
Top three in the Masters Elite Mile are awarded based on age-graded scoring. In past years, to be competitive in the age-graded mile, participants have run at minimum in the 85% and 80% levels for men and women, respectively. There are no qualifying times for the Masters Elite Mile. For 2018, there will be a $100 cash bonus for setting a Masters Mile event record (winner). Must be entered in Masters Elite Mile race for this bonus.
The Amputee Mile will also award the Top 3 finishers. There are also no qualifying times for the Amputee Mile.
