Nova Vita Heels to Heal Walk 2018
Standing Tall, Together, Against Domestic Violence

Making a Difference!  Thank you to everyone who made our 8th Annual Nova Vita Heels to Heal Walk a huge success, raising over $20,000 (and counting), with more than 150 walkers standing tall, together with Nova Vita, against domestic violence.

We at Nova Vita truly appreciate everyone’s hard work and wish to thank everyone who supported us: walkers, donors, sponsors, pledgers, and all who talked up the event or attended!

Don’t can still make a donation or pledge a walker until the end of June. Also, be sure sure to share your photos, on our official Facebook Page: Nova Vita Heels to Heal Walk.

Thank you to everyone who put their best foot forward to tell Brantford and the County of Brant that domestic violence is never OK!

A very special thank you to Roger at Digital Duck for creating this video to commemorate our amazing event.

Stand Tall! Nova Vita Domestic Violence Prevention Services is excited to announce our 8th annual Heels to Heal Walk in support of the over 1,000 individuals we serve every year. Join us on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 in Brantford’s Harmony Square, and stand tall in your red heels or your red shoes against domestic violence. This is our largest event of the year, both in raising awareness and in financial support.

Can YOU walk a “Canadian mile” in these shoes? Keeping with the history of our walk, formerly Men In Heels, we have red high heels available in men’s sizes 8 to 16, for our participants to complete the wobbly 1 km walk through the heart of our downtown. Wear our shoes or bring your own, and join us as we all walk TOGETHER to raise essential funding for Nova Vita and help to send the message that domestic violence is never OK!

Domestic violence is a serious epidemic in our community. Brantford is currently ranked 2nd in Ontario and 8th in all of Canada for police reported incidents of domestic violence. We at Nova Vita, see every day how exposure to domestic violence impacts individuals and families, and we work diligently to provide safe shelter, crisis support, individual and group counselling to everyone in our community. But we can’t do it alone. We Need Your Help! Last year alone, we had:

  • 4,560 calls to our 24 hours crisis and support line
  • 272 women and children live at Nova Vita
  • 293 women access our transitional support workers
  • 222 women in the community receive individual counselling
  • 27 children who were exposed to domestic violence receive counselling through our child-witness program and 15 children receive ongoing individual counselling
  • 280 men who were abusive or at risk of being abusive received off-site individual and group interventions

"Nova Vita Saved My Life!" We are driven by the knowledge that we are making a difference, but we can't do it alone, we need your help!
