Overview
This evaluation is for coaches in training who have attended and completed the NCCP Olympic Weightlifting Competition Introduction course. All coaches wishing to be evaluated must do so by being actively involved with a minimum of one new athlete, ideally of junior age (20 years and under). A senior athlete age 21 or over is acceptable.
Please review the following information carefully before registering for the evaluation.
Coaching Candidates seeking evaluation must have:
- completed the NCCP Competition Introduction Course;
- demonstrate they are actively involved in coaching an athlete for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the August 11 2018 evaluation (as demonstrated by their Evaluation Training Plan);
- submit their Evaluation Training Plan to the Nova Scotia Weightlifting Association by midnight, June 30 2018;
- have their coaching practice evaluated on August 11 2018 at the 2018 Renfrew Open;
- and participate in a debrief of their performance with the Evaluators on August 11, 2018.
Evaluation Training Plan
The Evaluation Training Plan must include:
- The athlete's name and weight category
- Bests official lifts so far (if any)
- The athlete’s training program (the four weeks prior to the evaluation/competition) with weights expressed as a % of 1RMs.
- The athlete’s projected attempts in the Snatch and Clean and Jerk (all six attempts) expressed in kilograms
- A detailed warm-up plan for the athlete.
- The Evaluation Training Plan must be no longer than 2 pages in length. Ideally 4 weeks of training should fit on a single page.
Evaluation Training Plans are due, as a Microsoft Word file, by midnight on June 30 2018 to Augie Westhaver (coaching@nsweightlifting.ca). Registration closes as of June 30 2018 and plans submitted after this date will not be accepted. This timeline allows Evaluators an opportunity to review and contact any candidates to request updates and information or revisions to submitted information in time for the evaluation. Evaluators will confirm with coaches directly if their Evaluation Training Plan meets standards by July 28 2018. Coaching Candidates whose Training Evaluation Plan does not conform to the requirements of the NSWA or the Evaluators will not be eligible for evaluation.
After the August 11 evaluation, the Evaluators will provide final results to Coaching Candidates. Evaluators will submit relevant NCCP registration forms of successful Coaching Candidates to the Coaching Association of Canada by August 31, 2018. No refunds will be given to candidates who are unsuccessful in their evaluations.
Coaching Candidates and their athletes must be members of the NSWA and competing athletes must register for the 2018 Renfrew Open.
