Volunteer Duties

Volunteers are a vital component of any successful event.  The Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance Teal Trot is no exception.  Please help us make this the best Teal Trot to date.

Children under 16 may volunteer but must be accompanied by an adult. GOCA DOES provide letters of Community Service to student that volunteer.

Don’t forget to dress accordingly to weather conditions and job requirements.

All volunteers upon arrival must report to the VOLUNTEER CHECK IN tent for check-in and further instructions.

Volunteer Opportunities and Job Descriptions

Load In (8 -10): Estimated Time Requirement 6:15 am – 9:15 am

Assist in unloading truck and setting up the venue (tents, signage, water stations, tables, chairs, etc.) Must be able to lift 30 pounds.  Be prepared to get dirty, sweaty, and possibly wet. Arrive onsite by 6:15 am.

Greeters (5-6): Estimated Time Requirement 7:30 am – 10:00 am

Greet and assist participants in locating the Registration/Check-In Area, snacks, and water.  Making sure participant traffic is flowing smoothly to the check in area.  Arrive onsite by 7:30 am. Be smiling, happy and prepared to stand for up to 2.5 hours.

Walk-Up Registration/Check-In (20): Estimated Time Requirement 7:15 am – 10:00 am

Duties include Register Walk-Up participants and check in pre-registered participants. Distribute race bags upon check-in. Accepting payment for Walk-Up participants, Accepting donation from participants. Arrive onsite by 7:15 am.

On Course Water Stations - 2 (4 – 5 per Station, 8 – 10 Total) Estimated Time Requirement 8:30 am – 11:00 am

Putting water on ice prior to the start of the race and replenishing as needed throughout the race.  Cheer and encourage participants as they pass.  Clean area as final participants pass. Lifting, getting wet, and standing for long periods is required for this task. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs.  Arrive onsite by 8:30 am

Snacks/Fruit/Venue Water Stations 2 Shifts (4 -5 per Shift, 8 -10 Total):

Shift 1 – 7:15 am to 10:00 Set-up, stock, and replenish the fruit/snack/venue water station area. Must keep areas clean and organized.  Some light lifting may be required. Area will need to be ready to go when Registration opens at 8:00 am. Arrive onsite by 7:15 am

Shift 2 – 9:45 am to 1:00 pm Continue replenishing and keeping area clean through the end of the event.  Consolidate leftover items and breakdown area for load out. Some light lifting may be required.  Arrive onsite by 9:45 am

GOCA Store 2 Shifts (3 - 4 per Shift, 6 - 8 Total):

Shift 1 – 7:15 am to 10:00 Set-up, stock, and replenish the GOCA Store with items participants may purchase. Responsible for running credit card transactions and taking payments via check or cash and recording each sale. Some light lifting may be required. Area will need to be ready to go when Registration opens at 8:00 am. Arrive onsite by 7:15 am

Shift 2 – 9:45 am to 1:00 pm Continue replenishing the GOCA Store with items participants may purchase. Responsible for running credit card transactions and taking payments via check or cash and recording each sale. Some light lifting may be required. At the end of the event consolidate leftover items and breakdown area for load out. Arrive onsite by 9:45 am

Traffic Control/Parking 2 Shifts (3 - 4 per Shift, 6 - 8 Total):

Shift 1 – 7:45 am to 10:00 am Assist arriving vendors, participants and volunteers in accessing the various parking areas for the event.  Ensure pedestrian traffic flows safely from the parking areas to the venue area. Arrive onsite by 7:45 am

Shift 2 – 10:45 am – 1:00 pm Ensure pedestrian safety and assist participants in exiting the venue and parking areas. Arrive onsite by 10:30 am

Load-Out (8-10): Estimated Time Requirement 8:30 am – 11:00 am

Assist in breaking down venue area (tents, signage, water stations, tables, chairs, etc.) and loading truck. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.  Be prepared to get dirty, sweaty, and possibly wet. Arrive onsite by 11:00 am.

Floater (6-8):

Willing and able to assist in any area needed.
