Come on our for a great day of swimming at the beautiful Welland Canal Flatwater Centre.  As our last event of the season we wanted to do something a little different, so we have come up with 2 unique races.

The Welland Ultra Swim - 15K - The longest open water event in Canada this year

The 5K Team Challenge - Enter in teams of 2 with each member swimming 2.5K  a truly unique kind of a race.

  

We are proud to have this event as part of the Canaqua Sports Open Water Swim Series!

 


The Welland Canal Open Water Swim is considered by many to be one of the best in the area Thanks to the quality and temperature of the water, as well as the world class facilities offered by the WRCC. 

The Course

 The 15K Ultra Swim will be a run using a 5k loop. All swimmers will complete 3 loops to finish the swim  

The 5k Team Challenge will be run using a 2.5K swim with each team member completing 1 loop

Race Setting - CLEAN and FAST water

Race Info

Location: 16 Townline Tunell Road, Welland, ON L3C 2T4 (Welland Recreational Waterway)

Check-in: At the Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC) in Welland (corner of Townline Tunnel Rd. and Colborne Street)

Awards: An award will be presented to the top finisher in each race.

The Course: See map above. All races finish at the Welland International Flatwater Centre on Townline Tunnel Rd, Welland.

Facilities & Food:

Race Details:

  • Swim caps will be provided for each swimmer and MUST BE WORN for identification purposes during the race
  • A number will be inked on upper back/shoulder of each swimmer 
  • Water temperature at this time of year ranges between 68 – 72 degrees Fahrenheit 
  • The race is an in-water start and finish 
  • Swimmers should not undertake this swim unless they are physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate safely
  • There will not be a "rain date" and a delay (or cancellation) would only occur in the event of lightning
