My Story…
On November 20th, our daughter Nora Mae was was diagnosed with a heart defect called VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect). Due to the size of the hole, surgery would be required to fix the defect. A month later, on December 20th, Nora had her VSD repair surgery and it was a complete success. She did so well, she was able to come home just 48 hours after open heart surgery with a smile on her face.
Having a child get diagnosed with a heart defect is the scariest thing we could have imagined. Everyone in the Heart Center and the PICU were absolutely wonderful and it made our stay at Akron Children's Hospital a little bit more comforting.
Thankfully Nora's VSD was caught when she was just 3 months old so the problem could be fixed early on in her life. Now she'll a normal life with just routine check ups as she grows up.
