Hi friends, Some reasons why I believe in, and stand with WAVAW are for the following (some of which personally affect me too): •WAVAW is the only organization in the Lower Mainland to offer specialized, gender-affirming support services to all trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit survivors of sexualized violence. •WAVAW has publically affirmed that sex work is work, and changed our stance on sex work from supporting the Nordic Model to supporting the full decriminalization of sex work. •WAVAW offers the only counselling group in Canada specifically for and by queer survivors of sexualized violence. •WAVAW supports Indigenous survivors through culturally-informed, Elder supported one-to-one and group counselling • WAVAW offers free-of-charge one-to-one and group counselling to survivors of sexualized violence All that we do at WAVAW is so important, but I believe those that I listed above are essential to providing equal care and ending gender based violence.
