My Story…
I'm participating once again in the Scotiabank Charity 5K to raise much needed funds for WAVAW – Rape Crisis Centre. WAVAW offers specialized wrap-around services to all survivors of marginalized genders.
WAVAW is BC’s largest rape crisis centre. We do not get core funding from the government. We have to fundraise every day to keep our doors open in order to connect survivors with the support they deserve.
In the aftermath of my own experience of sexual abuse, I wish I had known about WAVAW’s services but, today, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. The folks that I work alongside care deeply about what we do. We want to be able to do more for survivors and we need help.

With over 35 years of experience, we are British Columbia’s largest rape crisis centre, operating on unceded Coast Salish Territories. Survivors of sexualized violence are at the centre of everything we do. No matter where you are coming from, we are here for you.
