Help Tarana raise money

For participating in 2019 Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon & 5k

My Story…

This June, I am running for Pacific Immigrant Resource Society (PIRS) in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge. Originally from Azerbaijan, I have the pleasure to work for PIRS’ Women’s Leadership Program as the Coordinator. As an immigrant myself I was able to overcome many of the challenges that newcomers to Canada face with the support of women-focused organizations. My primary goal is to help facilitate a women development program designed for immigrant women in the Vancouver area. "I like to empower and help people so that they can build upon their capacities". Go Team Go!

Description

Help Us Invest In Diversity

Canada continues to be home of diverse cultures. Vancouver is home to 913,300 immigrants, 40.0% of Vancouver's total population (Statistics Canada, July 25, 2018). At Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS), our mission is to empower immigrant and refugee women to fully participate in Canadian life through neighborhood-based programs. We served 1,263 participants in 2018 through 20 different programs. This year, we have been able to offer free Language classes to immigrant and refugee women. Our future wish is for all PIRS programs to be free of charge.

Help us invest in diversity--We appreciate everyone’s support!
