It's one thing to go for a run or ride with your dog. It's a different thing to do it together safely as a team - and you're always #bettertogether
DogRunnin & the Moncton Dog Runners Club have teamed up to bring you the Spring Sessions: Moncton Edition - Part 2: A series of harness dog sport lessons designed to motivate & support your 6-legged team by giving you the tools to do so safely, surrounded by our incredible club community.
Not a runner? Not a problem! Whether you ultimately want to run, bike, ski or sled, we will give you and your dog the basics you need to get started as a 6-legged team!
The Spring Sessions provide a few different options for getting started with harness dog sports:
If you've never taken a coaching class before, you'll want to start with the Intro to Canicross Class - a one hour lesson designed to give you the basic tools & commands for starting, stopping, speeding up, slowing down, changing directions, and passing, plus safety practices to get you and your dog started in harness dog sports.
We find the best way to really set these skills as you continue with harness dog sports is through repetition and practicing with FRIENDS! We'd strongly recommend taking a minute to register for the Moncton Dog Runners Club via the Join button on this page. They're a fantastic group of humans and dogs who will motivate you to enjoy the outdoors and these sports with your #1 training partner every week! You can also find out more about the club (as well as a ton of other information about harness dog sports) on their website.
If you've already taken an intro class & want to build on your skills or try a new discipline, then the Bikejoring Basics Class is for you! In this lesson, you'll learn the basic skills and safety practices necessary to enjoy bikejoring as a team, as well as basic event protocol. We'll teach you how to set up your bike, bike attachment and line, how to introduce your dog to the bike, as well as how to safely share the trails you train on with others.
