The i2P Run is a celebration of trail running and an opportunity to push yourself to go farther or faster or both - to make your impossible, possible!
Event date: August 17-18, 2019.
Distances: 100km, 50km (night or day options), 25km, 15km, and 10km. Runners may build a custom distance (25km + 10km; 25km + 15km). There's also a virtual run for those who cannot make it to the event in person! Run your own event and earn your i2P dog tag!
Terrain: Each route offers a variety of trails including: single track, country paths, open fields, steep climbs, rolling hills and the beauty of the Gatineau Park. Choose the route that intrigues you the most, or change your mind mid-run depending upon how you are feeling.
The i2P Run is designed to be low stress and high fun. There is no official timing or results, but there are great draw prizes. The run is primarily self-supported but will have some water stations and light refreshments at the finish.
All proceeds of the run will go to support impossible2Possible's (i2P) youth expeditions. The mission of i2P is to encourage youth to reach beyond their perceived limits, and to use adventure as a medium to educate, inspire and empower young people all over the world.
The vision of impossible2Possible (i2P) is to break the boundaries that bind modern education by using mind-blowing adventures as a platform for true interactive learning. Our dream is to have schools around the globe utilize experience based learning programs via i2P expeditions that deliver the world to the classroom and the classroom to the world!
All expedition expenses are covered for youth ambassadors participating and all i2P Experiential Learning Programs are delivered free of charge to schools and students around the world.
We couldn't do this without the support of our sponsors. Thank you!
What is i2P?
Please note distances are approximate and may change slightly once the courses are finalized. We allow everyone to change their distance if the one they registered for no longer fits their needs. Unfortunately, we are not able to issue refunds.
Registration will close on August 16th at NOON (EDT) or when the maximum number of participants has been reached. Participation will be capped at 300 people.
RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS ON SUNDAY ONLY FOR AN ADDITIONAL $10.

100k
The 100k course will be divided in two 50k segments, separated by a rest period. The first 50k leg will start around 10pm on August 17, 2019, following presentations, and will end at Vorlage Ski Lodge in Wakefield. This part of the course will be run in the dark on a mix of technical and non-technical trail, and is somewhat self-supported (fuel and gear requirements will be sent to participants prior to the event - water will be supplied at approximately 10k intervals). This first part of the course remains a secret until race day!
Runners are required to be in Chelsea for 8pm on August 17, 2019 (location to be confirmed). Participants are responsible for their own transportation. If you are really unable to find your own, please let us know and we will see if another runner may be able to help. Runners may leave a vehicle in Chelsea (parking options will be emailed prior to the race), but will need to find a ride back from Vorlage Ski Lodge to their car after the run. Runners may also leave a vehicle at Vorlage Ski Lodge but will need to find their own way to Chelsea. The best option would be to have someone drop you off in Chelsea and/or pick you up at Vorlage after your run.
For the second half of the 100k, participants will join the daytime 50k runners for the 8am start at Vorlage and run the 50k course (see daytime 50k details below). Runners will need to meet the 50k start time and time cutoffs in order to run the full 100k. Participants need to have some technical trail running experience, as well as night time running as part of their training for this event. We strongly advise that participants in the 100k event have run at least the equivalent of a marathon distance. This is for your protection as well as the safety of all involved.
In addition to the presentations, each 100k runner will receive, as part of a special gear package, an i2P Run cotton t-shirt (for anyone who signs up before July 29th, 2019), as well as an i2P dog tag and a finishers’ i2P belt buckle (*please note that the belt buckle will ONLY be given to people who complete the full 100k distance). This is an experience you will not want to miss!
PACER OPTION
Back again! If you'd like someone to run with you for the daytime portion of your run (the second half of your run), we will try to match you up with one of our runners who volunteers to pace a 100k runner. Please note that the availability of this option will depend on the number of people running the shorter daytime distances who select that option. If you would like someone, please select it when registering and we'll do our best. You can also have a friend pace you, but please be advised that they would still need to register and pay the fee for their run. If you already have a friend who will pace you, please select no when asked whether you'd like a pacer, as the option is only for people who want us to find someone for them.
50k (nighttime)
Back by popular demand! You again have the option to run the first (nighttime) portion of the 100k. Like the 100k, the nighttime 50k will be run in the dark on a mix of technical and non-technical trails, and is somewhat self-supported (fuel and gear requirements will be sent to participants prior to the event - water will be supplied at approximately 10k intervals). Following some presentations, the nighttime 50k will start around 10pm on August 17, 2019, and will end at Vorlage Ski Lodge in Wakefield. Participants need to have some technical trail running experience, as well as night time running as part of their training for this event. This is for your protection as well as the safety of all involved.

50k (daytime), 25k, 15k, 10k
The daytime 50k, 25k, 15k, and 10k runs all start and finish at Vorlage Ski Lodge in Wakefield on Sunday, August 18th.
The 10km route will take advantage of the Wakefield trails (sentierwakefieldtrails.ca) starting from Vorlage - mainly single track, possibly with some road sections. Ideal for those wanting to try trail running for the first time or those who want to test out their speed.
The 15km route will head out of Vorlage towards trail 53. Uphill at the start and downhill at the end with lots of rolling terrain in between. This is for you if you want a bit more of a challenge but not ready to stretch the distance too far. Check it out for yourself: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2585368405
The 25km route is staying relatively the same as last year but with a different start and finish area. The tougher hills are in the first third. Here's the proof: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/2585368456
The 50km daytime route is the 25km followed by the 15km followed by the 10km. We know there are lots of people who want to do an Ultra. You can't get much more Ultra than doing 3 races in a row!
Sign in will be required before the start of the race. Sign in and bib pickup will take place from 7am to 9:50am on Sunday. Please make sure to show up at least 30 minutes before the start of your run to allow enough time for sign in and bib pickup - there may be lineups! Start times are as such: 8am for the 50k, 9am for the 25k, 9:30am for the 15k and 10am for the 10k.
Dog tag medals will be given to all finishers. There will also be i2P belt buckles, as well as cotton i2P Run t-shirts, for all 50k finishers (*please note that the belt buckle will only be given to people who complete the full 50k distance).
**Please note that distances are approximative. Course maps will be added once courses are finalized.
PACER OPTION
Back for year 2! If you are running the 50k (daytime), 25k, 15k or 10k, you may select the option to be matched with one of our 100k runners. If selected, you would start your run with the 100k runner that you are paired with, instead of the start time listed above, and run with them for your whole distance. 25k runners pacing a 100k runner would start with their runner at 8am. 15k and 10k pacers would start when their runner starts that leg. 100k runners will complete the daytime distances in this order: 25k, 15k, 10k. If you are matched with a runner, we will get in touch with you before the run and we will be able to give you an idea of the expected start time of your runner for the leg you are pacing them. Please note though, that this means you could be starting well into the afternoon, especially if running the 10k. Pacers are still required to register and pay for their distance, but will have the added benefit of not running by themselves and of helping someone else achieve their goal!
CUT OFF TIMES
Cut off times will be imposed for all events on Sunday at the Vorlage control point. To proceed out on the rest of the course, you will need to be able to complete your event by 6pm.

LODGINGS

PARKING
Please use carpooling if possible.
Parking at Vorlage Ski Lodge is free.
It is about 40km from downtown Ottawa (less than an hour drive).
FACILITIES
Vorlage Ski Lodge is at 65 Chemin Burnside, Wakefield, QC J0X 3G0. There are public washrooms and change rooms at Vorlage Ski Lodge along with drinkable fresh water.
START-FINISH REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Meet at Vorlage Ski Lodge. Look for the start/finish tent.
MANDATORY GEAR
Everyone is required to carry the following gear:
- Water (1.5L recommended for 50k and 100k)
- Food (1000cal recommended for longer races)
- Trail running shoes recommended
FOOD AND WATER
Check points will have water and limited food. Everyone should bring their own food for the event and afterwards.
You can drop water, food and clothing at the start/finish area. If you are running the 50km (daytime), you can resupply at the 25k point and again after another 15k as the course loops back to Vorlage twice. The same applies for the second half of the 100k.
INSTRUCTIONS
There is a mandatory sign in/sign out sheet at the start/finish area. If you do not sign off the course, we will mount a search and rescue operation.
Absolutely no littering! Take everything out that you bring in. Leave no trace.
Stay on the course. Consult the map or ask for help. Do not guess or blindly follow people. Do not make up your own route for two reasons: you will get lost and we won’t know where to find you, and you may cause others to follow you off course.
There are limited special markings on course. Use the map and read the trail signs.
However, this does not mean that you need any special orienteering skills to participate in the event.
SAFETY
The course is over well-travelled trails no further than a few kms from the nearest cabin or road. We have also planned some out-and-back sections for the longer distances where you can check out your lead or plead for food.
There will be some emergency water on course. A safety crew will sweep the course. There will be medical staff on hand.
Read your map. Read signs.
GETTING LOST
There are volunteers at the control points. Everyone will also be carrying a map. All the trails have permanent trail signs at the intersections and along the course. We are only using main trails. GPS is allowed. We also have sweepers at the end of the field. There will be hundreds of people hiking the same trails. Stop and ask for directions. If all else fails, contact the race organizers at the number provided at check-in.
FEES
Early bird registration ends on July 15th. Prices increase by $5 after that for the 10k, 15k, and 25k. Prices for the 50k and 100k will not increase after July 15th, but runners who register after July 29th will not receive the free gear included in their package. Online registration will close on August 16th at noon EDT or earlier if we reach 300 participants. There will be on-site registration on Sunday for an additional $10.
You may change up your distance the day of the run on Sunday only. If you’d like to do so, please advise volunteers when signing in. If you are upgrading to the daytime 50k, which is more expensive, you will need to pay the difference BEFORE starting your run. Sorry, no refunds.
All participants will qualify for GREAT door prize draws.
Virtual Run
We realize that not everyone can make it to Gatineau Park, and this opens up the possibility for everyone to participate from all over the world. Trail, or road, chose your distance and run with us in spirit. You will receive the same finisher's medal as everyone else. Post your photos on our Facebook page or Twitter feed so that we can see the beautiful places you run. Use our event hashtag #i2PRun. This option is only available to people who will not run in Gatineau Park.
