The 25th Annual Marathon by the Sea is the region’s most challenging Boston qualifier is also the east coast’s only summertime race event – a great way to spend a family weekend in August. Running seaside with the ocean breeze upon your face, you’ll experience the full maritime hospitality of the only city on the spectacular Bay of Fundy. Marathon by the Sea offers a full roster of races and events – with an emphasis on fun! Experience local entertainers along the routes, volunteer-run water stops that compete for best-in-race costumes and service, pre-race entertainment, great food and a terrific awards ceremony. Into the Night 5KM Fun Run Closed
Saturday August 10 The Into the Night 5 Km & Fireworks Extravaganza is a sellout every year. Runners gather at the Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal dressed in their best glow attire getting ready to light up the streets of Saint John. At dusk (approx.21:40) participants hit the street running passing through the middle of the Kickoff Party at Market Square with music blazing. Then it’s onto the nighttime views and sounds of the Harbour Passage as time passes participants are waiting with baited breath for the first runner to finish sets off the Fireworks Extravaganza show the largest summertime fireworks display Saint John has to offer.

Starting at the Port of Saint John’s Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal runners will find themselves following along the Saint John Harbour and river taking in such famous sites as the Harbour Passage, Reversing Falls and views of the Bay of Fundy coastline. The most breathtaking views will appear at km 17 (mile 11) when runners are granted permission to cross the 1.6 km (1 mile) long Harbour Bridge back to City Centre -this is the only time pedestrians are permitted to cross the Harbour Bridge.

Goodlife Fitness10K Closed
Sunday, August 11 The 2019 GoodLife Fitness 10 Km is the only event that has a water view for over 95% of the 10 Km route and is the shortest of the distances to offer the Tough Runner Certification. Starting at the Port of Saint John’s Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal runners will find themselves at times within touching distance of the Bay of Fundy coastline with the salty taste of the Saint John River in the air. Following along the Harbour Passage before passing over the Reversing Falls Bridge the numerous water views of the Bay of Fundy will take your breath away. Runners are granted permission to cross the Harbour Bridge back to City Centre which is the only time pedestrians are permitted to cross the Harbour Bridge.
