Walk, run, bike, and have a great time at “Raise the Roof for Five Oaks.” Five Oaks’ first Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, October 5, will help fund replacement of the roof on the main building and Chalet.
Both roofs are coming to the end of their lives; many of the shingles are starting to curl up, so this replacement is crucial and YOU can help do that!
The Walk-A-Thon route will offer Five Oaks friends an opportunity to learn more about each other as an interfaith, intercultural partnership. It starts at Mohawk Chapel (with an educational welcome there), then goes along Mohawk Street and Greenwich toward the Brantford Mosque.
Those able to do only a shorter route will finish their walk (approx. 3 km) at the mosque. The complete route is 13.9 km and will finish at Five Oaks, where there will be a celebration barbecue. Those raising $250 will receive free lunch. Teams of up to ten people raising $2500 among them, will also get a free BBQ. The cost below that threshold will be $13.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Five Oaks and continue to about 10. Transportation will be provided from registration at Five Oaks to the beginning of the event at Mohawk Chapel.
Please circle October 5 on your calendar and start your team NOW of friends, family members and co-workers to walk, run or bike for Five Oaks. It’s a great way to spend an October day having fun with friends, enjoying the fall colours, and helping to purchase a much-needed new roof for Five Oaks Centre.
