2019 Tampa Bay Sharkfest Swim
This year's event has been cancelled due to water quality issues in this region of the Hillsborough River. All registered participants have been contacted via email.
The Tampa Sharkfest Swim will consist of three distances: 1K, 2K & 4K starting and finishing at Armature Works floating dock by Water Works Park on the Hillsborough River. The 1K will swim west and turnaround just past the North Boulevard Bridge and return to the finish ramp. The 2K will swim south and turnaround just past the 275 overpass, then continue back and follow the 1K swim course. The 4K will do the 2K swim course twice.
PLEASE NOTE: This swim is not for novices. This event is for experienced open-water swimmers only. You should be able to swim one mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.
DISTANCE: 1K, 2K & 4K (does 2K course twice)
ATHLETE CHECK-IN: Athlete Check-in will take place at Urban Kai Stand Up Paddleboards Shop, more details will posted here closer to the event.
WATER TEMP: ~65-70° F
COURSE CUT-OFF TIME: 30 minutes for 1K, 70 minutes for 2K, 2 hours 20 minutes for 4K
INCENTIVES: T-Shirts for all participants. Sharkfest Swim Medals for top three finishers in each age group (non-wetsuit and wetsuit combined). Personalized award plaques will also be mailed to the first place finishers in each age group, (non-wetsuit and wetsuit combined).
AGE GROUP BREAKDOWN: Male and Female: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-100!
ENTRANT LETTER: An entrant letter with all the race day details will be emailed to all registered participants and posted online here 1-2 weeks prior to event day. Please check back for any updates and the full race day itinerary.
PARKING: Parking details TBD.
CANCELLATIONS: Registrations are non-refundable. If you can no longer participate in this event, you may receive a rollover credit (minus a $20 processing fee) toward a future event as long as you let us know by February 24 2019. After that date, a doctor's note is required to receive a credit.
