Race Concept:
We like to think that all of our Happy Trails Racing events are a good value based on what you receive in return for your hard-earned money. However, this event will likely give you the best bang for your buck!
Included with your registration, you will get to run a well-marked route with accurate chip timing. The aid stations will be great, the scenery will be lovely, and the people that you will meet on course will be top-notch. Also, everyone will receive some cool race swag and finishers will earn a medal HOWEVER, here's the catch:
The leftovers race is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. In this fun event, participants will be getting the Happy Trails leftovers. You may get a hoodie from Sticks n' Stones or the Beav. You may get custom made socks from the Falling Water Marathon. Maybe you'll get a tank top, a 3/4 sleeve, or a soft-spun t-shirt. The same goes for the finisher medals! "Tradesies" amongst runners is strongly encourage and we'll make sure that you get something in your size.
It will be a mystery until you open your race kit!
There will also be some creative awards to be won- and not just for the fastest runners!
Distances:
We're not telling! It's a mystery race. Let's just say that there will be a short distance (10k or less), an ultra distance, and something in between. You get to decide your race distance when you arrive on race day.
Aid Stations:
Runners can expect the usual ultra staples- water, an electrolyte drink (Skratch Labs) , pb & j, sweet and salty snacks.
We will be using our re-usable EcoCups at the Leftovers Run. They can be washed, sterilized, and re-used over 100 times and then recycled. We are grateful to our sponsor, DKOS (www.DKOS.ca), for helping us make this green initiative possible. They are made of rigid plastic and you throw them in the receptacle after using them, just like you would with a disposable cup. We will collect them, wash and sterilize them, and re-use them at our next event.
Post Race:
As you may know, we don't usually offer a post race meal at our events because we don't like the idea of charging everyone for a meal that many people can't eat due to food restrictions/preferences. However, a race named "The Leftovers Race" should have food, right? After the race, participants will be invited inside for a POT LUCK meal. As an incentive, participants who commit to bringing some food will receive a discounted registration price and will also be eligible for some additional draw prizes. To keep with the theme of the race, we are not going to request any specific foods- it will all be a surprise.
As our kids say "You get what you get and you don't get upset!"
Refund Policy:
Happy Trails Racing has a new policy regarding race refunds/transfers: register with confidence knowing that you can take advantage of our early bird pricing and, if you need to back out, you can do so up to 30 days before the race with a 100% race credit that can go towards any future Happy Trails event. It doesn't expire. From 30 days out to 15 days out, you can back out with a 50% race credit. Participants are also welcome to transfer their bib without any penalty up to 15 days before the race. Please keep in mind that everything we need to order to have you at our race is done so at least 30 days out.
