For participating in 2020 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend

My Story…

In 2019, I ran my first marathon: the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. I was dragging my way through mile 19 or so when I was greeted by a friendly greyhound who gave me a reason to slowdown and enjoy my race surroundings. I ran her to the next tent and cried the whole way! It was the most memorable experience of the marathon. These dogs were what kept me going and allowed me to regain confidence during the second half of the course. The work that SCG does for these dogs is so important. Greyhounds have a history is mistreatment by their owners for sports and entertainment purposes. This amazing charity seeks to rehabilitate then, care for them mentally and physically, and ensure they’re taken home with owners who love them. The greyhounds are part of the reason I chose to run Pittsburgh again. Help me on my mission to give these pups what they need and deserve through Steel City Greyhounds!

Description

Steel City Greyhounds (SCG) is a nonprofit corporation that promotes the adoption of retired racing greyhounds in the metropolitan Pittsburgh and surrounding western Pennsylvania regions. We are an all-volunteer organization which means that the proceeds raised goes to cover the costs associated with our adoption program's medical expenses, including spay and neuter surgery, vaccinations, and wellness exams, along with other adoption program operating costs.
