My Story…
I have coached for Girls on the Run since the fall season of 2016. Every season I coached, I appreciated the program more and more! Girls not only train to run a 5K, but they also learn specific skills and strategies such as how to manage emotions, help others, make intentional decisions and resolve conflict that they use at home, at school and with friends.
This year, I needed to take a break from coaching to take care of my own future Girl on the Run. Now not only am I am personally not able to continue coaching, but the COVID-19 pandemic is having a devastating impact on the ability of Girls on the Run to serve girls in our community in the same way they have in the past.
I decided to sign up as a Girls on the Run SoleMate for the Madison Mini Marathon 5K in order to support Girls on the Run. This 5K will give me an opportunity to begin training again after giving birth to my daughter.
