Help Katelyn raise money

For participating in MSU Gran Fondo

Fighting Skin Cancer on Two Wheels

The MSU Gran Fondo is a bike ride that raises money in support and awareness for skin cancer. This is my 5th time raising money for the Gran Fondo and my 4th ride on the 40 mile route. I had hip surgery in November of 2018. Since then I have been encouraged to make myself stronger and push myself past my limits to achieve goals that I once believed were achievable. This last year I have raised almost $2,000 and the two years before that I raised just over $1,000. This is only a small amount of thousands of dollars raised for the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo. All money raised goes directly to supporting skin cancer awareness, prevention and research. Because of the money raised there have been lots of ground breaking discoveries in the skin cancer world. A new melanoma drug will reduce the spread of melanoma by 90 percent. The medical world is advancing. On Saturday, June 27, 2020. Please help me reach my goal of $2,000 while supporting [skin] cancer.

Description

Most of us have known people who have personally fought the battle against cancer. Through modern treatments and much grace, some have survived. Others have not. The MSU Gran Fondo is my opportunity to get some skin in the game and provide hope for nearly 70,000 people in the U.S. expected to be diagnosed with melanomas of the skin this year.

Funds raised from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research at MSU. These dollars are funding pilot studies – investigative, next-step research that tests findings and enables a scientific study to continue.

The MSU Gran Fondo has raised over $1 Million and funded studies leading to some exciting breakthroughs in the fight against skin cancer. Click through the articles below to learn more.

This September, the streets of West Michigan will be paved with good intentions. And here’s where I need your help. I’ve made a commitment to make the MSU Gran Fondo much more than a ride. My hope is that you will join me in supporting a mission that is more than skin deep. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research at MSU. Together we can make a difference. Thank you!
