My Story…

In October, I will participate in the Scotiabank Charity Virtual Marathon as a member of the York University Retirees’ Association (YURA) team. Our team is raising money for graduate student awards at York University. YURA also supports: - awards for undergraduate and mature students in financial need - York summer camps subsidy for children - campus food bank for students - Jane-Finch outreach initiative for junior high school students Each of us will run or walk 5 km. We plan to do it as a group at a Toronto location (with appropriate physical distancing). Besides the official 5 km, I will run/walk an additional 15 km: 1 km every second day in October, totaling 20 km. My own goal is to be the BEST, to contribute THE MOST to this University cause! I am hoping my colleagues, friends and generations of former students (of 50 years) will help me! Tax receipts will be issued by York for donations of $20 or more.

Description

Please support graduate scholarships at York University by registering to walk or run 5 km in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 18. One of YURA's major activities is raising funds for graduate scholarships. On the day of the race, our volunteers will walk or run as a group, and then meet for lunch. We will have fun, and at the same time help the student community in an impactful and meaningful way through recruiting sponsors.
