Help Elizabeth raise money

For participating in Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Virtual Race 2020

My Story…

Peter and I dedicate almost all of our free time (outside of full-time work and school!) rescuing street cats in Toronto. This includes Trap, Neuter & Return to help reduce the city's massive feral cat population and future suffering, as well as, socialization and medical care. Our work would NOT be possible without the unwavering support of Annex Cat Rescue (100% volunteer run!). The rescue world can be highly unpredictable, and Annex Cat Rescue has supported us countless times, when we needed them the most. Annex Cat Rescue fully depends on public donations to cover the tremendous medical costs required to rescue Toronto's most vulnerable cats.

If you are able to donate, even a small amount, we will be forever grateful!

Since the start of 2020, Annex Cat Rescue has FULLY supported us to help the following (and many more which are not included);

-Ralphie (photo above). A community cat who was found running frantically on a busy street, blinded by a severe eye infection. He required several courses of antibiotic surgery, an extensive dental surgery and neuter. He is now living his best life in his forever home.

Mama cat, named Possum (photo above) and her 6 kittens. Possum gave birth to a litter of 5 on a homeowner's front lawn. An abandoned kitten from a seperate litter was found at different location, and Possum accepted the baby as if it were her own. The kittens have since been adopted but Possum has require extensive surgery due to a painful hernia.

A concerned neighbour reached out to us about this poor kitten (photo above), found outside with a terrible eye infection. Her young daughter named the sweet boy Muffin, and he was transferred into Annex Cat Rescue's care where he received an expensive eye enucleation surgery. Muffin was later adopted by his wonderful foster mama, and living happily ever after.

Mikey (photo above) spent years living outside and fed by a kind neighbour. This summer, she noticed he was getting sick and requested help from Annex Cat Rescue. Mikey had a massive dental abscess which require draining and is currently awaiting his dental surgery through one of ACR's partner vet clinics.

A couple of summers ago, we TNR'd a large backyard colony of feral cats. This winter, the homeowner decided she no longer wanted the cats, and stopped feeding them. The cats had depended on the woman since birth, and with low survival instincts began to starve. Annex Cat Rescue provided 7 of the cats with a socialization foster, and over many patient months they became acclimated to indoor life. They have since been adopted or are waiting for their forever homes.

Stevie and Iggy (photo above), two flea infested kittens born in a garage. They are now placed in a wonderful foster home, and will soon be available for adoption.

John Prine (black and white) and Grandpa Abe (tabby). Two tom cats who were not fairing well outside, both with severe upper respiratory infections and covered in battle wounds. Both boys immediately embraced the comforts of indoor life, and required extensive dental surgeries.

Description

Annex Cat Rescue is dedicated to eliminating cat homelessness in Toronto. Until that time, we care for cats and kittens in a variety of ways including (but not limited to) daily feeding and colony management, medical/dental care, socializing, fostering, adopting or in the case of feral cats, spaying/neutering and returning (TNR). Now in its 23rd year, ACR remains 100% volunteer-run with 90% of monies raised helping cats in partnership with veterinarians who provide services at reduced rates.

We have a no-kill policy so cats remain in foster care until a permanent home is found.
