Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend and upcoming arrival of Spring by participating on Saturday, March 14 in a fun day of fitness. There are multiple activities to choose:
- Greenswell Indoor Triathlon
- 5K Pump-n-Run, and/or
- 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk
Take part in a 60-minute indoor triathlon! Different than a traditional triathlon, each participant or relay team will have a set amount of time to swim, bike, and run with allotted transitions between activities. Fun and pressure-free, this event is great for both experienced triathletes and those competing in their first race.
- 10-minute swim in a 25 meter lap pool
- 30-minute bike on an indoor cycle
- 20-minute run on a treadmill
Divisions will be split by gender. Relay teams will be scored separately. The club-based event at Mount Carmel Fitness Center offers a safe and simulated environment for athletes of all fitness levels. The event is ideal for athletes who have no experience in triathlon to experienced athletes looking for a fun challenge. It’s our hope to inspire finishers to consider participating in one of our Greenswell outdoor triathlons in 2020 featuring: Super Sprint, Sprint and International distances. Regardless of fitness level, athleticism or goals, our Greenswell Multisport team and Mount Carmel Fitness Center team are here to support your journey and celebrate your accomplishments along the way.
All finishers will receive a commemorative medal.
The 5K Pump & Run is a fun and great way to tests overall fitness by measuring both strength and endurance. The pump will begin at 7:00 am - 9:00 am followed by the run portion at 9:30 am.
In the competition, participants bench press a percentage of their body weight. Each lift (up to a max of 30) reduces their 5-kilometer run time by 30 seconds.
The Pump & Run has multiple age/gender divisions (14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & older). Depending on age, males must bench press 60 to 100 percent of their body weight, and females 40 to 70 percent of their body weight. Trainers oversee the bench press and inspire lifters to their maximum. At the weigh-in, your weight percentage is calculated first, then the resulting number is adjusted to the nearest 5 lb increment (if you're right in the middle, they'll round up). Once the bench card is turned in, the decision of the spotter is final. If you have any questions, please review with the spotter during the bench time. The scoring adjustments by the race team will use the bench reps listed on the bench card with no exceptions. All athletes must be able to press a 40-45 lb barbell.
Awards: The top 5 overall male and female finishers will receive awards. All finishers will receive a medal upon the completion of their 5K run.
5K (3.1 Mile) Run/Walk
Take part in a 5K run/walk from the Mount Carmel Fitness Center on the paved trails around the the fitness center and back. Run or walk your choice but its a fun event for the entire family. Afterwards, stick around for a fun celebration with music, light food, exhibitors, and other activities.
The top 3 overall male and female finishers will receive a commemorative award. All finishers will receive a medal.
Wish to Participate for No Cost? Volunteers are needed from lap counters to bike and run recorders. Volunteer for a minimum of 4 heats before or after you heat and you can participate at no cost. Click on the Volunteer button on the left side of the page and register to volunteer. Once you registered to volunteer, register for the triathlon and use code INDOORVOL20 to obtain your complimentary entry. Please do not register for the heat immediately before/after your volunteer shift. There needs to be sufficient time to complete your final volunteer heat and your registered participation heat. The volunteer opportunity does not apply to any other event other than this event.
